From Awareness to Action: Shining a Light on Presymptomatic Type 1 Diabetes
The symposium will provide a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) early detection, pathophysiology of autoimmune T1D and disease progression, and explore early intervention options. With growing recognition that T1D follows a predictable autoimmune progression, this session highlights the importance of identifying at-risk individuals before the onset of symptomatic disease, paving the way for early management and emerging therapeutic strategies.
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Describe the autoimmune pathophysiology of autoimmune T1D and how disease progression can be quantified
- Explore the clinical value of screening and how to identify people at increased risk of autoimmune T1D
- Discuss the clinical management of people with early-stage autoimmune T1D, including emerging therapeutic options
